The film has gathered an incredible Rs 1.76 cr in Chennai beating Vijay's Mersal's prior record of Rs 1.52 cr. Kaala currently remains at the highest point of the movies gathering figures in Chennai. Before Mersal, Ajith's Vivegam had enlisted a record film industry gathering on its opening day by collecting Rs 1.21 cr.
